Yarndeavors is International!

Just a brief update.

1. It's official—Yarndeavors is international. A very large shipment, including a couple of custom skeins, went to Australia, and another skein is enjoying the ambiance of Japan.
2. The Yarndeavors domain name remains intact, but the site hosted there is coming down as all sales have been moved to Etsy. I've been busy tonight relocating the important data over here on the blog and interconnecting the Facebook Fan Page, the Etsy Shop, and Ravelry. (Everything is linked to the right under Pages.)
3. The dye pots have been resting but expect to see new skeins appearing soon.

Fall is here, cool weather approaches, and it's time to think Holiday Knitting. A skein of Alizarin sock yarn/fingering weight would make a lovely shawl for a holiday party, and a silk scarf would be welcome under any tree.

The refreshed Yarndeavors site is back up and running now. The Shop link now goes to Etsy. This should discourage any h a c k e r s  from attacking me again.

New yarns coming soon. Stay tuned. Meanwhile, visit the Etsy shop, and "like" the Facebook page.

My apologies to anyone who tried to visit the shop. No wonder the orders have been scant. Some idiot hacked me. I typed in my URL to get a nasty photo and the words "YOU ARE HACKED BY SAYMAN SECURITY 0%"

Not only that, but MY ZENCART IS GONE. He deleted MY ENTIRE SHOP. All the yarn, all the photos, EVERYTHING. Just a 404 not found.

I'm currently working on fixing this. Don't know HOW he got in. I am ABSOLUTELY SICK INSIDE.

Still Breathing

It's been slow around the dyepots—until this takes off, I need fundage, so I'm in the job-hunting mode. However, there have been a few skeins dyed. They'll be up soon.

I test-drove the process of dyeing duplicate skeins to see if I can pull it off (I can!). I'm thinking I'd like to overdye at least one of them to play with a more neutral palette. But I'd like to leave it open; watch this space. I'll post a photo of the Skein in Question and a poll, and you can vote on it!

Scarves and New Yarn Are Up

New for spring: silk scarves! Two one-of-a-kind scarves created during a recent surface design class using ProCion™ fiber-reactive dyes are now available in the shop:





In addition is the first of a line of woven scarves:



And the new yarn—I was having my blue period, I think!

Excited

I'm excited, because three skeins have been sold so far! Thank you to my inaugural customers—as I told one of them, I knew I loved the dyeing/creative process, but I never anticipated how excited it would be when a skein sold. Who knew?

The dyepots are gonna be smokin' tomorrow as I crank out some more stock. I'll be posting a couple of silk scarves and a woven one as well. Keep your eyes peeled for the updates...

3... 2... 1... LIFTOFF!!

Houston, we have liftoff! It took a month longer than expected, but Yarndeavors (Handpainted Fibers) is officially open for business.

Take a look around, but please ignore the dust. This is a totally new experience for me. Yes, Virginia, there has been a learning curve. The manual for the cart software is unlikely to be found anywhere near "intuitive" in the dictionary.

For now, please email me directly with orders. I'm working on getting PayPal functionality or a better credit gateway solution (read: affordable). I check my mail every day, so your order will be processed within the same amount of time and we can work out payment arrangements through PayPal or another method.

And if you're local, heck, we can just meet for coffee somewhere and make the exchange.

I don't know about you, but I'm pretty excited.
